​DAVID CHANDLER OAM - NSW Building Commissioner

David Chandler OAM was appointed NSW Building Commissioner in 2019. He is charged with improving the quality of construction and restoring trust in the industry through leading the delivery of Construct NSW in collaboration with the sector. David is an Adjunct Professor in Construction Management at Western Sydney University and was the founding industry and engagement lead for the successful centre for smart modern construction.

Shane studied economics and maths at University College Cork before beginning his career as economist at the Economic & Social Research Institute in Dublin. He regularly offers his housing market analysis at events across Australia and he spearheads the production of Master Builders Australia’s keynote industry forecasts.

An urban planner and policy manager, Dyan joined Master Builders back in 2013.  She drives Master Builders’ policy and advocacy agenda, with the challenge of building confidence and building quality central to the agenda.  She works on building regulation reform both in Queensland and nationally, serving as a member of the Australian Building Codes BCR Implementation Team formed to implement the recommendations of the Shergold Weir Building Confidence Report. Her role within the Team was to lead the production of the National Building Product Assurance Framework and Design Acceptance Model Guidance.

Ajit has 9 years’ experience in environmental impact assessments and corporate sustainability. He has worked with clients across buildings and infrastructure, resources and energy, utilities, manufacturing, FMCG and retail. Ajit has overseen the end-to-end delivery of GHG inventories and decarbonisation roadmaps for conglomerates and large construction, retail and industrial supply chains across Asia-Pacific and Europe.

Alison Scotland is the Executive Director of the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council, a body of peak organisations committed to a vision of more sustainable, productive and resilient buildings, communities and cities. Her passion and expertise lies in collaborating with industry, government and third sector leaders to develop national policy and technical solutions that enhance the built environment.

Professor Chris Knapp is an experienced leader, educator, architectural practitioner, researcher and maker. Dr Knapp’s research expertise is in the application of digital fabrication and digital design tools toward transforming the relationship between design and construction. Since 2015, Chris has co-directed Studio Workshop, a practice in Southeast Queensland creating innovative spatial and technical approaches to building-making through digitally-assisted means. His research, teaching, and practice work have been published widely and received national and international recognition.
